Doctor Anke Raajimakers

Dr. Anke Raaijmakers is a Paediatric Nephrologist at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick (Australia) and a conjoint senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales (Randwick, Australia). She started her research around cardiovascular outcomes and neonatal kidney injury in former preterms in Leuven (Belgium). She defended her PhD thesis entitled ” A poor start to life? Perinatal predictors of cardiovascular and renal health in childhood ” in 2017. She is the founder of the PREMATCH studies (prematurity as predictor of children’s cardiovascular-renal health) under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Karel Allegaert and Prof. Dr. Elena Levtchenko. Her research interests include neonatal nephrology and pharmacology, hypertension, cardiovascular risk profiles and the long-term consequences of kidney transplantation and prematurity. She has authored over 30 publications listed in PubMed and presented talks at diverse national and international meetings.
